Not as widely celebrated as it deserves to be, Glasgow Women’s Library is the only accredited museum in the UK devoted to women. Experience a fascinating variety of works for and by women, their history and their lives . Along with a lending library and archives, there are a calendar of public events such as women’s heritage bike rides, creative writing and reading groups with guest authors and poets.
Aerial Edge – Glasgow’s Circus School
A trail-blazer in Scotland’s circus-skills training community, you don’t need to run away and join the circus to enjoy this pursuit! Circus fitness and acrobatics classes are on offer. If you want to reach the dizzying heights then Flying Trapeze classes are recommended as you can fly off 8 metre high platforms – with a harness of course! Classes are for beginners and all aptitude levels.
Watch weird cinema at Matchbox Cineclub
These guys are experts in cult movie appreciation. Their monthly screenings offer a massively varied collection of genres and you never know what they’ll be presenting next, but you can be sure it won’t be screening at your local cinema. The founders of the original Nicolas Cage , Cage-a-rama, Matchbox Cineclub appeal to all the cult movie fans who like to experience something a little different on their Thursday night.
Work up a sweat at Park Run
Do you want to feel great and maintain your fitness level whilst you holiday? Or do you feel like chatting with some friendly inhabitants and getting some fresh air? Park Run is the international happening that sees locals meeting up in their local green space for a timed 5k run. Don’t fret about performance though, all levels and abilities are welcome! We recommend the Pollok Park run, as you’ll see the magnificent ex-stately home, Pollok House, which is steeped in history!
